Femtum

Based in Quebec City, Canada, Femtum develops mid-infrared pulsed fiber lasers and laser-based solutions for semiconductor and photonics manufacturing. The company specializes in laser cleaning and trimming applications designed for high-precision wafer-level processing, targeting high-demand markets like artificial intelligence semiconductor manufacturing, advanced packaging, and silicon photonics. Operating with fewer than 25 employees and generating under $5 million in annual revenue, the enterprise integrates its proprietary laser systems directly into the existing production equipment of major semiconductor manufacturers. To support its ongoing growth, Femtum is currently expanding its operations into a new 25,000-square-foot facility. The hardware developer has raised $40 million in total funding, including a $16 million CAD Series A round backed by institutional investors such as BDC Capital, Fonds de solidarité FTQ, Cathay Venture, and Hamamatsu Ventures. Femtum was founded in 2017 by Louis-Rafaël Robichaud and Simon Duval.
