Kakao Entertainment is a South Korean entertainment content company based in Seongnam-si, specializing in webtoons, web novels, music distribution, record production, talent management, and the creation of dramas, movies, and variety shows. The company operates key platforms such as Kakao Page and Melon, producing and distributing a wide array of media across digital and traditional channels. Functioning as a subsidiary of Kakao Corporation, it generates revenue through content distribution, music publishing, event management, and platform subscriptions. Its operational structure includes independent units for story IPs, music, video, and platforms, overseen by Co-CEOs Lee Jin-soo and Kim Sung-soo. The organization recently invested 10 billion won in drama production company Highground to foster synergy with its content ecosystem. Kakao Entertainment was formed on March 2, 2021, through the merger of Kakao Page and Kakao M, with Kakao Corporation founder Kim Beom-soo as a prominent figure in its parent company's establishment.
