Andrew Hsu

Andrew Hsu is the co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Speak, an artificial intelligence-powered language learning platform based in San Francisco, California. Under his technical leadership, the application has scaled to over ten million users globally and secured more than $85 million in venture funding from prominent investors, including the OpenAI Startup Fund. Before establishing Speak in 2016, he previously worked as a software engineer at Meta and founded Airy Labs, an educational gaming startup backed by venture capital. Hsu originally entered Stanford University's neuroscience doctoral program at age sixteen before leaving to accept a Thiel Fellowship in 2012. He recently directed the launch of generative artificial intelligence conversation features for Speak's expanding international user base. His professional career remains focused on leveraging machine learning and consumer software to build highly scalable educational technology products.
