Ben Herila

Ben Herila is an Engineering Lead at Meta and a Venture Partner at Pioneer Fund, based in the San Francisco Bay Area of California. He previously served as a Tech Lead on the internationalization team at Airbnb, where he expanded the platform to 32 new countries and implemented support for right-to-left languages and four-byte unicode. Before joining Airbnb, Herila was the Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Underground Cellar, an e-commerce wine marketplace that participated in the Y Combinator Winter 2015 batch. His early career includes software engineering roles at Microsoft starting in 2009, where he contributed to Office Graphics and the MinWin project for Windows Server, and he holds a computer science degree from Cornell University. Herila currently focuses on building scalable product infrastructure and supporting early-stage consumer technology startups through pre-seed venture investments.
