Brett Beatty

Brett Beatty is the Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer at Surge, a Y Combinator-backed startup developing application programming interfaces for software text messaging. Prior to launching this Fall 2024 batch company, he spent six years as a Senior Engineer at Podium, where he served as the technical lead for the core messaging platform and the account structure team. During his tenure, he engineered foundational communication tools requiring 99.999% uptime and sub-millisecond response times, and he led the engineering development for an SMS payments product that achieved a $2 billion run rate by its second year. Before his time at Podium, Beatty worked as a Principal Engineer overseeing the core payments infrastructure at Entrata. His technical background centers on building highly reliable telecommunications infrastructure, scalable backend systems, and low-latency developer tools for enterprise software applications.
