Catherine Denis

Catherine Denis is the Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of Numida, a fintech company based in Kampala, Uganda. In her current role, she oversees team building and operational processes for the Y Combinator-backed startup, which provides unsecured working capital loans to semi-formal African micro-businesses. Under her operational leadership, Numida secured a $12.3 million pre-Series A equity and debt funding round led by Serena Ventures in September 2022 to expand its proprietary digital lending and risk models. Denis holds a Master in Public Administration in International Development from the Harvard Kennedy School and a degree in Systems Design Engineering from the University of Waterloo. She leverages over eight years of direct on-the-ground experience across Uganda, Rwanda, Burkina Faso, Mali, Haiti, and Colombia to focus on scaling financial technology and microfinance operations within resource-constrained emerging markets.
