Charly Poly

Charly Poly is the co-founder and CEO of Defer, a Y Combinator-backed developer tools company. Previously, he served as a Tech Lead at Algolia, where he engineered a background jobs processing platform that directly contributed to $12 million in new revenue. Before his tenure at Algolia, Poly held software engineering positions at Cycle App and The Guild Software, focusing on open-source projects within the TypeScript and GraphQL ecosystems. He holds a computer science degree from Teesside University and an additional degree from IUT Orléans Département Informatique. Beyond his corporate roles, his technical reference articles have been featured in recognized industry publications like GraphQL Weekly and TypeScript Weekly, and he spoke at React Europe. Poly currently focuses on building backend infrastructure and developer tools that enable Node.js engineers to manage complex asynchronous workflows and background job processing.
