Christian Van Der Henst

Christian Van Der Henst is the Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of Platzi, and is currently based in San Francisco, California. Active in the technology sector since 1997, he previously founded Maestros del Web, an online community for Spanish-speaking web developers that reached over nine million visitors by 2009. He subsequently partnered with co-founder Freddy Vega to launch Platzi, which became the first company of Hispanic origin admitted into the Y Combinator accelerator program during its Winter 2015 batch. Under his operational leadership, the platform scaled to serve millions of students across Latin America and secured a $62 million Series B funding round led by Prosus in 2021. Van Der Henst currently focuses on expanding digital literacy and software development education while acting as an angel investor for early-stage startups throughout the Latin American ecosystem.
