Daniel J. Beutel

Daniel J. Beutel is the Co-Founder and CEO of Flower Labs, an artificial intelligence infrastructure company based in Cambridge, England. He is the co-creator of Flower, an open-source federated learning framework utilized by Fortune 500 companies and integrated with major platforms like PyTorch and TensorFlow. Under his leadership, Flower Labs secured a $20 million Series A funding round led by Felicis in February 2024, bringing total venture funding to $23 million at a $100 million valuation. Prior to founding the artificial intelligence enterprise, he held executive positions including Head of AI and Chief Technology Officer, and he earned a Master of Science degree in software engineering from the University of Oxford. Beutel is currently completing his doctoral research at the University of Cambridge, where his academic work focuses heavily on distributed machine learning systems and privacy-enhancing technologies.
