David Filo

David Filo is an American technology entrepreneur and philanthropist based in the San Francisco Bay Area, best known as the billionaire co-founder of Yahoo!. While pursuing a doctorate at Stanford University in 1994, he partnered with Jerry Yang to create a web directory that quickly evolved into one of the earliest consumer internet portals. Filo served as Chief Yahoo and maintained a long-term board seat as the company reached a peak market capitalization exceeding $125 billion during the 2000 dot-com boom. He officially stepped down from the corporate board of directors in 2017 following Verizon's $4.48 billion acquisition of the company's core internet business. Today, his primary focus is managing the Skyline Foundation, directing a notable $50 million financial donation to his alma mater Tulane University alongside broader philanthropic investments in global climate technology solutions.
