Ian Brooke is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Astro Mechanica, an aerospace hardware startup based in the San Francisco Bay Area. He established the deep tech company to engineer a novel electric-adaptive jet engine architecture specifically designed to improve the efficiency and accessibility of commercial supersonic flight. Under his leadership, Astro Mechanica secured early-stage institutional backing from Silicon Valley investors and participated in the Y Combinator accelerator program as part of its Winter 2024 batch. Operating as a hands-on hardware engineer, Brooke directed the technical development of the firm's advanced propulsion systems, leading to the successful construction and public test fires of their initial engine prototype in early 2024. His current professional focus centers on scaling Astro Mechanica's manufacturing capabilities and advancing deep tech aviation hardware to commercialize next-generation propulsion systems for the aerospace industry.
