Ilia Baranov is a robotics engineer and product leader based in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, who most recently served as a Senior Engineering Manager at Clearpath Robotics. He earned a degree in Mechatronics Engineering from the University of Waterloo before spending over a decade developing autonomous mobile robots. During his ten-plus years at Clearpath, Baranov advanced through multiple software engineering and product management positions, contributing significantly to the successful development of widely used industrial robotic platforms. His tenure culminated in the company's acquisition by Rockwell Automation in October 2023, marking a major milestone for the autonomous systems sector. Additionally, he has been a key contributor to the open-source Robot Operating System (ROS) community, focusing on hardware-software integration. Baranov maintains a primary focus on advancing mechatronics and autonomous systems for both academic research and commercial industrial applications.
