James Lin

James Lin is the Head of Candidate Data at Wellfound, formerly AngelList Talent, and is based in San Francisco, California. He previously served as the Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer of the anime streaming platform Crunchyroll from 2006 to 2015. During his tenure, he managed engineering and design teams to help scale the service to 120 million registered users and 10 million paying subscribers before its $1.2 billion acquisition by Sony in 2021. Following his time at Crunchyroll, Lin co-founded and acted as the Chief Executive Officer of CSPA, an educational technology startup that participated in the Y Combinator Summer 2018 batch. The company was subsequently acquired by Wellfound, leading to his current data leadership position. His professional background centers on product management, engineering leadership, and data strategy across the consumer media, educational technology, and recruiting sectors.
