Joao Pedro Thompson

Joao Pedro Thompson is the Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Z1, a digital banking platform targeting teenagers and young adults, based in São Paulo, Brazil. Under his leadership, the neobank participated in the Y Combinator Winter 2021 batch and subsequently secured a $10 million Series A funding round led by Kaszek. Before launching Z1 in April 2020, he co-founded and served as the Chief Financial Officer of Vereda, an affordable K-12 education startup aimed at the Brazilian middle class. His earlier corporate career includes serving as the Head of Latin America Treasury at Kraft Heinz and working in investment banking at Itau BBA and Credit Suisse. Thompson leverages his extensive background in corporate finance and early-stage venture building to expand financial access and digital banking solutions for the next generation of Brazilian consumers.
