Joel Phillips

Joel Phillips is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Siglo, an internet service provider and blockchain protocol based in the Mexico City area. Backed by Y Combinator during its Summer 2021 batch, the company focuses on expanding digital and financial inclusion across Latin American peripheral urban areas. Prior to launching Siglo, Phillips served as the Chief Executive Officer of Pig.gi, a mobile top-up platform that he scaled to 1.5 million users across Mexico and Colombia. His earlier entrepreneurial experience includes founding Whispershout and serving as Vice President of Product Development at Yottabytes Ventures, following his graduation with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Columbia University. Drawing on a decade of operating experience in Latin America, his current focus centers on leveraging artificial intelligence, decentralized models, and fintech solutions to improve emerging market economics.
