Josephine Chen is a Partner at Sequoia Capital based in the San Francisco Bay Area, where she focuses on seed and Series A early-stage venture investments. Before joining the venture firm in June 2019, she worked as an Investment Associate at Emergence Capital and served as a Business Analyst at McKinsey and Company from 2016 to 2018. She holds BS and MS degrees in Biomedical Informatics from Stanford University, where she was a Mayfield Fellow and previously conducted translational oncology research at Genentech. Recognized on the 2021 Forbes 30 Under 30 list for Venture Capital, she currently serves as a Board Observer for startups including Found, Knowde, and AMP Robotics. Chen currently focuses on data-driven enterprise software, fintech, and healthcare businesses, while also helping lead the highly selective Sequoia Arc catalyst program for pre-seed founders.
