Lachy Groom

Lachy Groom is a General Partner at Scalar Capital, a crypto-focused venture capital fund, based in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Before transitioning to venture capital in 2023, he founded and bootstrapped the payments platform AssemblyPay, scaling the business to over $10 million in annual recurring revenue before its exit in 2021. At Scalar Capital, Groom helps manage more than $100 million in assets under management and oversees a portfolio of over 20 blockchain projects, recently leading a 2024 investment in LayerZero. He previously studied computer science at the University of Sydney and maintains an active presence in the regional ecosystem, sharing insights with his 50,000 Twitter followers and speaking at Sydney Startup Week. Groom currently focuses on deploying capital into early-stage software, fintech, and cryptocurrency startups while leveraging his operational background to support emerging technology founders.
