Liz Wessel

Liz Wessel is a Partner at First Round Capital based in San Francisco, California, where she leads the firm's seed investments and Y Combinator investing strategy. Before joining the venture capital firm in 2023, she spent seven years as the Co-founder and CEO of WayUp, a recruitment platform that raised over $40 million and served more than seven million candidates before its 2021 acquisition. Following her early career in product marketing, Wessel served as a Visiting Group Partner at Y Combinator, advising more than 110 early-stage startups on sales, marketing, and fundraising. As an active angel investor since 2016, she has backed over 60 companies, including early investments in Scale AI and Ramp. Today, she leverages her extensive founder and advisory experience to focus on pre-seed and seed-stage generalist investments across multiple industries.
