Marcelo Sato

Marcelo Hideo Sato is a General Partner at Astella based in São Paulo, Brazil, where he invests in early-stage technology startups across Latin America. Bringing over 27 years of experience in the information technology sector, he joined the venture capital firm in July 2017 to support scaling software companies. Previously, Sato served as Chief Financial Officer and Partner at UOL EdTech from 2013 to 2017, following the acquisition of Ciatech, an enterprise learning company he co-founded and led as Chief Technology Officer. He currently holds board director positions at several portfolio companies, including Gabriel, which he joined in October 2023, as well as Clicksign and Aprova Digital. He holds an electronic engineering degree from FEI and studied corporate finance at Fundação Getulio Vargas. His current investment focus centers on artificial intelligence, data analytics, and digital marketplaces.
