Marianne Uteng

Marianne Uteng is a Managing Director at the Novartis Venture Fund based in Basel, Switzerland. Prior to her current investment role, she worked in Novartis Global Drug Development and led teams within the Pre-Clinical Safety Department at the Novartis Institutes of Biomedical Research. She holds a master's degree in biochemistry from the University of Oslo and a doctorate in molecular biology through a joint program with the European Molecular Biology Laboratory. Uteng currently serves as a board director for several biotechnology startups, including Tagworks Pharmaceuticals, Epsilogen following its $16 million Series B round in September 2024, and AstronauTx after leading its $59 million Series A financing. Additionally, she holds board observer seats at CatalYM and Granite Bio. Her current focus centers on deploying capital into early-stage life sciences companies developing novel therapeutics across precision medicine, immunology, and oncology.
