Mark Springel

Mark Springel is a Principal at Vida Ventures in Boston, where he evaluates and executes early stage venture capital investments across the life sciences sector. He earned a Ph.D. in Biological and Biomedical Sciences from Harvard Medical School, conducting research focused on the neural circuits of the somatosensory system. During his doctoral studies, he secured three prestigious grants, including the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship, the National Institutes of Health F31 Fellowship, and the HMS Neurobiology Quan Fellowship. Prior to joining Vida Ventures as an investor in 2021, he served as a Senior Business Development Fellow at the Harvard Office of Technology Development and cofounded Activate Bio, a venture program supporting academic life science entrepreneurs. His current investment focus centers on biotechnology startups advancing novel therapeutics in neuroscience, developmental biology, and stem cell biology.
