Mark Velleca

Mark Velleca is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Black Diamond Therapeutics and a Venture Partner at Hatteras Venture Partners, based in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. Previously, he served as the CEO of G1 Therapeutics until 2021, leading the company's initial public offering and securing FDA approval for COSELA. His executive background includes tenures as CEO of StrideBio, Executive Vice President at the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and co-founder of CGI Pharmaceuticals. Following the 2010 acquisition of CGI Pharmaceuticals by Gilead Sciences, he operated as a Senior Advisor for Gilead. He holds an MD and PhD from Washington University in St. Louis and a BS from Yale University, where he formerly served as a faculty member. Velleca currently focuses on advancing clinical-stage biotechnology companies, specializing in oncology drug development and AAV-based gene therapies.
