Markus Villig is the CEO and Co-founder of Bolt, a mobility technology enterprise based in Tallinn, Estonia. He began his entrepreneurial career at age 19 while studying mathematics at the University of Tartu, launching the initial ride-hailing application in 2012 alongside co-founder Toivo Annus. Under his executive leadership, Bolt has scaled its operations to serve over 150 million users across more than 600 cities in 50 countries, securing financial backing from institutional investors including Sequoia Capital. Villig recently guided the enterprise to a $13 billion valuation following a $220 million Series F funding extension in November 2024, while simultaneously expanding micromobility scooter rentals into 100 new international markets across Europe and Latin America.
