Mathias Frederiksen

Mathias Frederiksen is a Principal at the Novartis Venture Fund in Basel, Switzerland, where he evaluates and manages early-stage life sciences investments. Operating within a corporate fund that manages over $750 million in committed capital across more than 40 portfolio companies, he provides strategic guidance to emerging therapeutic and digital health startups. Frederiksen currently serves as a board observer for LoQus23 Therapeutics and directs institutional capital toward ventures across North America, Europe, and Israel. Before transitioning to venture capital, he worked as a research group leader in Chromatin Chemical Biology at the Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research. His academic background includes a doctorate from Imperial College London and postdoctoral research completed at Stanford University. His current focus centers on bridging scientific innovation and venture capital to advance novel therapeutics in oncology, immunology, and precision medicine.
