Matt Carbonara

Matt Carbonara is an investor at Mayfield, focusing on early-stage technology investments across artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. Prior to joining the traditional venture capital firm in April 2025, he spent more than six years as a Managing Director at Citi Ventures. During his tenure there, he led strategic investments in prominent technology startups, including AI coding platform Poolside, AI voice company Deepgram, and cybersecurity firm Snyk, which reached a $7.4 billion valuation in its latest round. His earlier career includes serving as a General Partner at Reservoir Venture Partners and holding investment roles at Comcast Ventures. He began his corporate venture capital career in 2011 within the corporate development group at Cisco Investments. Carbonara leverages his extensive background in corporate venture capital to execute strategic early-stage investments within the financial technology and enterprise software sectors.
