Matt Clifford

Matt Clifford is the Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Entrepreneur First, a global talent-focused investment firm based in London, England. Before establishing the firm in 2011, he worked in data science at QuantumBlack and earned a degree in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge. Under his leadership, Entrepreneur First has backed over 700 companies that have collectively raised more than $6 billion, including the hardware startup Graphcore. In addition to his investment career, Clifford served as the Chief Executive Officer of the UK AI Safety Institute from 2023 until October 2024. He recently returned full-time to Entrepreneur First following the firm's $235 million fundraise to support its ongoing global expansion efforts. His current focus remains on identifying pre-seed founders and accelerating early-stage commercialization across the artificial intelligence and deep tech sectors.
