Matt Fates is a Venture Partner at Ascent Venture Partners, where he specializes in early-stage enterprise IT and software investments. Before joining Ascent in 2002, he executed venture capital deals at Norwest Venture Partners and managed equity and mergers and acquisitions for technology firms at Alex Brown & Sons. He holds a dual Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Science and Economics from Yale University and a Master of Business Administration from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth. Throughout his career, Fates has led investments in more than eight acquired technology startups, including Interactive Supercomputing, which was acquired by Microsoft, Fidelis, which was purchased by General Dynamics, and StrikeIron, which was bought by Informatica. His current investment focus centers on early-stage data analytics, cloud business services, and cybersecurity technologies that solve complex enterprise challenges.
