Matt Golden

Matt Golden is the Founder and Managing Partner of Golden Ventures, a seed-stage venture capital firm based in Toronto, Ontario. Before transitioning to venture capital, he practiced technology and venture law at the Canadian firm Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt, and later co-founded Tira Wireless, a mobile enterprise software company where he served as a senior executive. After establishing Golden Ventures in 2011, Golden notably became the first institutional investor in the digital storytelling platform Wattpad, which was eventually acquired by Naver for $600 million. Under his direct leadership, the firm has raised more than $200 million across multiple funds and backed prominent technology startups including SkipTheDishes, Top Hat, and Clearco. His current investment focus centers on providing foundational seed capital and strategic operational guidance to early-stage founders operating across the broader North American technology ecosystem.
