Matt Schaar

Matt Schaar is the VP and Partner at Accion Venture Lab, where he leads post-investment engagement for a global early-stage fintech fund. In this role, he oversees advisory work and investor relations across a portfolio of more than 70 companies spanning six continents. Previously, Schaar was a founding team member of the Product and Developer Marketing group at GitHub, driving a twofold increase in user growth prior to its $7.5 billion acquisition by Microsoft. His earlier career includes experience at Salesforce and an educational background in aerospace engineering, preceding his transition into the technology startup ecosystem. As an active angel investor in over 20 startups, he holds advisory and board observer roles with organizations including Catalyst Fund. Schaar currently focuses on supporting pre-seed to Series A ventures through go-to-market strategy, product-market fit, and inclusive fintech initiatives.
