Matthew Cowan is a General Partner at Next47, the venture capital arm of Siemens, based in San Francisco, California. Before joining the firm in 2021, he served as a Partner at NEA from 2015 to 2021 and held earlier technical and investment positions at Battery Ventures and Cisco. Cowan has managed over $1 billion in investments across a global portfolio of more than 50 companies, with notable exits including Snyk's 2021 initial public offering and Cloudability's 2019 acquisition. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Stanford University and recently led a March 2025 investment in an artificial intelligence infrastructure startup within the enterprise sector.
