Max Bertfield

Max Bertfield is the Founder and Chief Technology Officer of Scout, an educational technology startup based in New York, United States. Founded in 2024 and participating in the Y Combinator W25 batch, Scout develops an AI-powered student information system designed to automate administrative workflows for K-12 schools. The eight-person company has recently secured financial backing from institutional venture investors including Reach Capital. Prior to establishing Scout, Bertfield spent four years leading the product and engineering team at the ticketing platform TodayTix, following his tenure as an early software engineer at several other technology startups. He holds a computer science degree from University College London, having initially started programming at age 13. His current professional focus centers on building AI-native software infrastructure to streamline data validation, compliance, and government reporting within the education sector.
