McKeever “Mac” Conwell

McKeever “Mac” Conwell II is the Managing Partner of RareBreed Ventures, a pre-seed stage venture fund based in Baltimore, Maryland. Before launching the firm in September 2020, he served as a seed-stage fund manager at the Maryland Technology Development Corporation (TEDCO) from 2016 to 2020, where he managed the Minority Business Pre-Seed Fund. His earlier career includes working as a software engineer and Department of Defense contractor, as well as founding two startups, one of which achieved a successful exit to a Fortune 100 company. At RareBreed Ventures, Conwell closed a $10 million Fund I in the first quarter of 2022, writing initial checks of up to $250,000, and has worked alongside firms like Insight Partners and Carta. He currently focuses on providing pre-seed capital to exceptional, often underrepresented founders operating outside traditional technology ecosystems.
