Michael Baran

Michael Baran is a Partner at Pfizer Venture Investments and an Executive Director in the Emerging Science and Innovation group. He joined Pfizer in 2008, initially working in market access operations before serving as Senior Director of Scientific Affairs for the R&D President’s Office from 2011 to 2017. Following a tenure as Senior Director of Portfolio Strategy between 2017 and 2018, he transitioned to his current venture capital role to manage equity investments aligned with the global pharmaceutical corporation's future directions. In this capacity, he oversees Pfizer’s financial commitments across a growing portfolio of biotechnology startups, including Accelerator NYC, Magnolia Neurosciences, ImCheck Therapeutics, ImmunOs Therapeutics, and Autobahn Therapeutics. Holding both a PhD and an MBA, Baran focuses his investment strategy on advancing emerging science and therapeutics innovation within the broader global pharmaceutical sector.
