Michael Birch

Michael Birch is a General Partner at NFX based in San Francisco, California, where he focuses on seed and Series A investments globally. Before joining NFX, he served as an early investor at Homebrew and held various product and engineering positions at technology startups including Postmates and Dropbox. Throughout his venture capital career, Birch has completed over 50 early-stage investments, backing prominent technology companies such as Notion, Brex, and Figma, which reached a $20 billion valuation. In March 2026, he led a $50 million seed funding round for the artificial intelligence coding startup Replit Labs and recently joined the NFX advisory board to guide future AI investments. The Stanford University computer science alumnus currently focuses his investment strategy on backing innovative founders across early-stage enterprise software, artificial intelligence, developer tools, and financial technology.
