Michael Costa

Michael Costa is an angel investor and board member at New York Angels, and Treasurer at HBS Alumni Angels of Greater New York, based in the New York City metro area. Previously, he spent 25 years as an investment banker at Merrill Lynch and Cowen & Co., managing over $300 billion in mergers and acquisitions for entities including AT&T Wireless and Dow Jones. He also served nearly a decade on the board of directors for Scripps Networks Interactive, guiding the company through its spin-off and $6 billion acquisition by Discovery. Over the past three years, Costa has mentored more than fifty startups, facilitating investments averaging a $1.5 million raise at an $8 million pre-money valuation. His current focus centers on early-stage technology investments and strategic mentorship within the digital media, SaaS, and entertainment sectors.
