Michelle Khine is a Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the University of California, Irvine, and the Founder and CEO of FlexiGro and BluPrint, based in Irvine, California. She previously completed her PhD in Bioengineering at UC Berkeley and a postdoctoral fellowship at UC San Diego before transitioning into academic research and commercialization. As a serial entrepreneur, Khine has co-founded more than five startups and recently secured a $5 million seed funding round in 2024 for her newest diagnostics venture. Her academic contributions include over 100 peer-reviewed publications, such as a 2023 paper in Nature Biomedical Engineering, alongside holding multiple patents in shrink-film microfluidics. She also delivered a keynote address at the 2022 BIO International Convention. Khine currently focuses on bridging academia and industry by developing accessible, paper-based point-of-care medical devices to address global health challenges.
