Monica Beam

Monica Rivera Beam is the Senior Vice President of Science and Technology at Alexandria Real Estate Equities and Alexandria Venture Investments. She co-leads the firm's Science and Technology team and has directed venture capital investments in more than 30 life science and technology companies. Beam currently serves as a Board Observer for BioGraph 55, Immusoft, and Trex Bio, and previously held the same role at DiCE Therapeutics. Before joining Alexandria, she was a Vice President at Square 1 Bank, building its Bay Area life science practice and managing debt financing for early-stage technology and healthcare startups. She holds a doctorate and master's degree in biomedical engineering from Northwestern University, alongside a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from Stanford University. Her current focus centers on advancing early-stage venture investments across the therapeutics, diagnostics, and enabling technology sectors.
