Nathan Stebbins is a Senior Principal at Flagship Pioneering, where he focuses on conceiving, resourcing, and scaling first-in-class life sciences ventures. He initially joined the firm after completing the Flagship Pioneering Fellowship and previously co-founded a startup focused on cell-based therapeutics delivery. Stebbins earned a doctorate in biological engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, conducting thesis research in Professor Ram Sasisekharan’s laboratory. His doctoral work explored cell surface sugars, breast cancer targets, and avian influenza mutations, ultimately resulting in multiple patents and publications. Prior to his time at MIT, he received a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry, cellular, and molecular biology from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where he was awarded a prestigious Goldwater Scholarship.
