Neil Shen

Neil Shen is the Founding and Managing Partner of HongShan, a prominent investment firm formerly known as Sequoia Capital China. Before transitioning to the venture capital industry, he co-founded the travel platform Ctrip.com and the economy hotel chain Home Inn, following early corporate finance roles at Deutsche Bank and Citibank. Under his leadership, the firm has built a portfolio of approximately 300 companies, executing notable early investments in major technology enterprises including ByteDance, Meituan, and DJI. Shen guided the firm through its June 2023 spin-off from Sequoia Capital into an independent entity, and he has been ranked first on the Forbes Midas List four times, most recently in 2023. Holding a master's degree from Yale University, Shen currently focuses on deploying venture capital into high-growth Chinese technology sectors, innovative business models, and robotics.
