Nicholas Plugis

Nicholas Plugis is a Senior Principal at Flagship Pioneering, where he specializes in founding and scaling innovative life sciences companies based on unappreciated biologies and emerging biotechnologies. Since joining the firm in 2017, he has led the creation of multiple biotechnology startups, including Ring Therapeutics, Cellarity, Laronde, and Ampersand Biomedicines. He previously served as Chief Innovation Officer at Cellarity, where he established and directed the Drug Design Studio to advance cell-centric drug discovery. Plugis earned a doctorate in chemistry from Stanford University under the advisement of Chaitan Khosla, completed the Stanford Graduate School of Business Ignite Program, and holds a bachelor of arts from Middlebury College. His extensive work has resulted in multiple patents and publications, earning him recognition on Business Insider's 2021 list of twelve serial entrepreneurs building the next generation of biotech startups.
