Nico Vandervelpen

Nico Vandervelpen is the Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Bioqube Ventures, a specialist life sciences investment firm based in Brussels, Belgium. Prior to establishing the investment firm in 2016 alongside Debora Dumont, he gained extensive experience in spin-off creation, company growth, and corporate venture development at the Johnson & Johnson Belgian incubator. Under his leadership, Bioqube Ventures launched the Bioqube Factory Fund I, which successfully secured a €60 million first close in May 2020 with an ultimate target of €100 million. He currently oversees a growing team of ten professionals and recently expanded the firm's advisory network by bringing in industry veterans Tom Heyman and Peter Verhaeghe to support portfolio growth. Vandervelpen focuses on early-stage biotechnology investments, leveraging his extensive background in fundraising and exit deals to de-risk and scale emerging European life sciences companies.
