Noubar Afeyan is the Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Flagship Pioneering, a life sciences venture creation firm based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Under his leadership, the firm has originated over 100 scientific ventures with an aggregate value exceeding $30 billion, most notably co-founding Moderna and Indigo Agriculture. In June 2024, Flagship Pioneering secured $3.6 billion in new capital to fund its next generation of biotechnology and sustainability startups. Afeyan earned a PhD in Biochemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a BS in Chemical Engineering from McGill University. He currently serves on the MIT Corporation, the institute's governing body, and was recognized on the Time100 list in 2021 for his contributions to global health. His career focuses on institutionalizing the entrepreneurial process to build biotechnology companies across human therapeutics, agriculture, and applied biology.
