Paul Bassat

Paul Bassat is a Partner and Co-founder at Square Peg Capital, based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. At the venture capital firm, he oversees early-stage technology investments across Australia, Israel, Southeast Asia, and the United States, managing more than $2 billion in assets. In 2024, Square Peg raised over $300 million for its fourth Asia-Pacific fund, supporting a portfolio that includes notable companies like Canva and Airwallex. Prior to his current venture capital career, Bassat co-founded and served as Managing Director of Assura Group, which was acquired by TPG Capital in 2019. He began his professional career as a corporate lawyer in Australia after earning Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts degrees from the University of Melbourne. Bassat currently focuses his efforts on guiding early-stage technology startups within the fintech, enterprise software, and cybersecurity sectors.
