Paul-Josef Patt

Paul-Josef Patt is the Founding Partner and former CEO of eCAPITAL Entrepreneurial Partners AG, a venture capital firm based in Münster, Germany. He holds a PhD from the University of Münster and began his career as a Project Manager at Roland Berger before serving as an executive partner at the Ernsting's family retail chain. After joining eCAPITAL's management in 2001, Patt spent over two decades leading the firm, which currently manages more than €340 million across six active funds. During his tenure, he orchestrated several major deep technology portfolio exits, including the sale of Novaled to Samsung, sonnen to Shell, and Jedox to Insight Partners. He also serves on multiple supervisory boards, including Heliatek and Open-Xchange. His current focus remains on advising early-stage and growth-stage deep technology startups across sectors like sustainability, enterprise software, and cybersecurity.
