Paul Kuruvilla

Paul Kuruvilla is the CTO of CodeCrafters, a Y Combinator-backed developer education startup, and is currently based in San Francisco, California. Founded in 2022 alongside CEO Sarup Banskota, the 10-employee company secured a $1.8 million seed round from investors including Instagram co-founder Mike Krieger and Dropbox co-founder Arash Ferdowsi. Kuruvilla brings 12 years of coding experience to his position, having previously worked as a software developer and engineering manager where he initially built a Redis clone to upskill his team. He holds a Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar, and has contributed to open-source projects such as Coderwall and Liberapay. His current focus centers on platform engineering and advanced programming pedagogy, specifically designing complex challenges that require engineers to reconstruct core tools like Git and Docker from scratch.
