Pete Bastien

Pete Bastien is a Partner at Hitachi Ventures, where he spearheads the firm's North American venture capital operations. Prior to this role, he spent over two decades driving digital transformation and deep tech innovation, including leadership positions at Next47, the venture capital arm of Siemens, where he orchestrated the fund's inaugural investment. He also led North American venture ecosystem activities and corporate investments for Toyota Tsusho, building a portfolio that includes recent investments in the AI-enabled supply chain marketplace Amplio and the warehouse automation developer inVia. Bastien holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from The Ohio State University and a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School. His current investment focus centers on deep tech and industrial innovation, specifically targeting high-potential startups advancing batteries, circularity, ClimateTech, decarbonization, energy, and global healthcare systems.
