Pete Stevenson is the Founder and CEO of PAX Markets, a San Francisco Bay Area fintech startup building ultra-low latency digital asset exchanges. Founded in 2024 and backed by Y Combinator for its Winter 2025 batch, the six-employee company utilizes custom silicon and FPGA technology to integrate exchange and high-frequency trading on a chip. Previously, Stevenson specialized in FPGA trading systems at Citadel Securities and served as an officer on a nuclear-powered fast attack submarine in the United States Navy. His earlier engineering career includes participating in two successfully exited startups, with HICAMP acquired by Intel and Pixie acquired by New Relic. He holds a doctorate in electrical engineering from Stanford University and a Bachelor of Science from the United States Naval Academy, combining hardware expertise with quantitative research to optimize cryptocurrency market efficiency.
