Phoebe Harrop is a Partner at Blackbird Ventures based in Auckland, New Zealand, where she invests in early-stage technology companies from the seed stage onward. After earning a law and Spanish degree from the University of Otago, she began her career as a management consultant at Bain & Company in Melbourne and London. Harrop subsequently spent three years as an investment professional at Generation, the sustainability-focused growth equity fund founded by Al Gore, working between London and San Francisco. During her tenure there, she gained exposure to portfolio companies including Asana and Gusto, before returning to New Zealand to co-lead seed rounds for startups like Carepatron. Her current investment focus centers on founders developing solutions across the fintech, healthcare, future food, and cleantech sectors, with a particular emphasis on improving health outcomes and reducing carbon emissions.
