R. David Edelman is a Venture Partner at Anzu Partners and an IPRI Distinguished Fellow at MIT, based in Washington, D.C. He previously served in the Obama White House for over six years, holding roles including Special Assistant to the President for Economic and Technology Policy at the National Economic Council and Director for Cybersecurity at the National Security Council. During his government tenure, he architected the $10 billion ConnectED initiative, which successfully connected 30 million students to broadband, and managed $15 billion in federal technology programs. Edelman holds a bachelor's degree from Yale University and a doctorate from Oxford University, and he recently authored the 2024 book "Rethinking Cyber Warfare" published by Oxford University Press. His current professional focus centers on the intersection of artificial intelligence governance, enterprise cybersecurity, and the geopolitics of emerging technologies.
