Previously, she served as a tenured Associate Professor of Nuclear Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, and as a Division Director at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Slaybaugh also worked as a Program Director at the Department of Energy’s ARPA-E, creating the agency's nuclear fission program while managing portfolios spanning agriculture, solar, and virtual reality.
